How do I become a Christian?

Receiving Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make.

TO RECEIVE CHRIST

You must acknowledge yourself to be a helpless sinner in God’s sight and in need of a Savior.

Romans 3:23 (KJV)

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12 (KJV)

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

You must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to be the very Savior you have just admitted needing (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 1 Peter 2:24a) and rose from the dead (Romans 10:9; 1 Corinthians 15:4), having accomplished the defeat of sin.

Romans 5:8 (KJV)

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Corinthians 15:3 (KJV)

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Romans 10:9 (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

1 Corinthians 15:4 (KJV)

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

You must personally repent of your sins (Luke 5:32; 13:3) and confess Jesus Christ as Lord over your life (Romans 10:9-10), believing that as God, He can and will forgive your sins (Acts 10:43) and grant you eternal life (1 John 5:11, 13).

Luke 5:32 (KJV)

32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 13:3 (KJV)

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Romans 10:9–10 (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 10:43 (KJV)

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

1 John 5:11–13 (KJV)

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
