Fasting and Prayer

From March 10, 2022- Palm Sunday April 10, 2022 Pastor Bubba has challenged us to join him in a time of Fasting. This is a personal decision between You and God to remove something that has a stronghold on your life and replace it with prayer and building a deeper relationship with God.

There are 2 types of Fasting

  • ABSOLUTE FAST*
  • Absolutely No food and only water for a set number of days. Most people choose between 1-3 days. This type of fasting is found in Exodus 34:27-28, when Moses fasted and received the 10 commandments. It is also found in Acts 9:9 when Saul was blinded in his transition to Paul, and he fasted for 3 days.

*An absolute fast should be undertaken with great care and only under the guidance of a physician. Please be cautious of your health when choosing this fast.

  • PARTIAL FAST - 21 days
  • This type of fasting is when you remove specific items from your life and replace it with prayer and study. Most who chose this type of fasting turn to the Daniel Fast found in Daniel 10:2-3. This fast typically lasts 21 days and removes any rich foods and no meat or wine.

*Please be cautious when choosing a fast, regarding food, to not cause harm to your health.

  • The alternative to this style of fasting is to pray and let the Lord reveal to you what needs to be removed from your life and be replaced with Him. It could be food, entertainment, social media, coffee, tobacco etc.

Why do we fast?

To build a deeper relationship with God. When you remove that one thing from your life and replace it with prayer and study, your relationship with God will grow. "Fasting without prayer is just going without food. It has NO spiritual benefit and NO spiritual fruit."
